Tips & Hacks:

Cindy’s ultimate list of spring cleaning must-do tasks will help you refresh and rejuvenate your home environment. To begin with, a clean and tidy home is essential whether you live in an apartment or a multi-level residence. So, use this list to check off completed tasks and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with sparkling, clean, renewed spaces.

The Check List:

  1. To start, dust to remove dust bunnies from behind and underneath the items. High dusting to remove dust web strings from free-flowing up above
  2. In addition, dusting shelves, windowsills, interior windows and tracks, door ledges, baseboards, and light fixtures.
  3. e.g. vacuuming floors, carpeting, area rugs, interior welcome mats, and hard floor surfaces.
  4. Deep cleaning the kitchen: wall backsplashes, refrigerator & oven, inside and outside, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, countertops, dishwasher, cabinet exteriors for now, and clean the pantry shelving.
  5. Deep Clean the Bathrooms: Clean and disinfect the interior and exterior of the toilet, sink, shower, counters, decorative shelving, and bathtub; clean the mirrors and purge to replace old toiletries. Vacuum the floor to pick up the tiniest particles and mop the floors.
  6. Clean the exteriors of the air vents and change the boiler filter. Point often overlooked, duct cleaning supports healthier air quality in the home. Respectfully, it should be done every three to five years; for example, burning the fireplace and pets living in the house dictate the frequency.
  7. Outdoor Cleaning: Sweep walkways, patios, decks, and entryways, including the garage. Remember to sweep or vacuum first (vacuuming is done with a dedicated outdoor vacuum cleaner, a dedicated second unit). Finally, dust the garage interior and exterior shelves and surfaces using Ask Cindy’s ultra-plush dust grabbing microfiber cloths, making cleaning easier.

  1. Suggested Maintenance Tasks: Check & replace batteries in flashlights, smoke & carbon monoxide detectors, and thermostats, and clean out exterior gutters.
  2. Springtime extras: Wash and dry clean curtains, comforters, quilts, and other fine linens. Spring is a great time to declutter the wardrobe and storage closets, kids’ rooms, dresser drawers, garage, mudroom, and more. Of course, you can customize this list by adding tasks or eliminating those that do not apply.

Certainly, doing any of these springtime clean-up tasks will freshen up spaces and make a
visible difference for your home-sweet-home.

I’m wishing you a wonderful & happy spring season!
