Carpet Cleaning Prep: Getting Your Space Ready!

A stage with red curtains and a spotlight shining on it.

Carpet cleaning prep involves getting the space ready before starting the cleaning process.

  1. Remove lightweight items from the carpeted floor.
  2. Vacuum thoroughly. You want to vacuum up and discard dirt, pet hair, and soil particles independent of the carpet cleaning machine’s actions to wet and clean simultaneously.
  3. Spot clean visible stains before the carpet cleaning process. Contact the carpet cleaning professionals about purchasing neutral-formulated spot cleaning products. It is ideal to keep them in-house for mishaps.
  4. Before cleaning, remove breakable items like glass vases and delicate decor pieces to a safe location away from the cleaning.
  5. Alert the cleaning technician to the following:
    • Specific pre-spotted stains and high-traffic areas can be pre-spotted again using the same neutral formals. That is why it is essential to pre-purchase directly from their catalog of pre-spotters. Additionally, set a plan for protecting delicate floor-length curtains and drapes from moisture during cleaning and drying.
    • The carpet cleaner should place foil or plastic squares underneath the furniture legs to protect them from moisture during cleaning. This prevents staining from wet furniture legs to the carpeted surface.
    • The technician should use dry suction movements to go over the newly cleaned areas, removing as much water as possible for quick drying.
    • Allow at least twenty-four hours for a completely dry carpet surface. Turning on the ceiling fan will create airflow to help dry out the floor surface.
    • Please wait another day to return all items to the newly cleaned and dry surface. It’s always better to be safe than sorry, agree? 🙂

Tailoring the carpet cleaning process with the above prep steps will avoid mishaps and ensure a more efficient and effective cleaning process that leaves carpets fresh and revitalized.  Happy Cleaning!
