During this time of year, hosting loved ones and friends—bringing everyone together in your home for joy and cheer—is wonderful. However, hosting festive gatherings requires housekeeping, tidying, and food preparation. Therefore, planning for cleaning before, during, and after the gathering is essential to help everyone and the host(s) minimize stress so that everyone can enjoy the event. No worries—I’m sharing my top tips for a pre-, during-, and post-event strategy.

1. Preparation: Hiring a house cleaning service—usually a team of two or three—can handle a lot. Cleanliness boosts your home’s appeal and showcases its decorative features.

2. CEO Management Style: Envision hosting this event with less stress beforehand. Hiring housekeeper(s) for these tasks is worthwhile. They can:

  • Greet guests, accept coats and hats, and direct them to the gathering area.
  • Refill food trays and condiments, clear used glasses, dishes, and serving pieces, and take them to the kitchen for cleaning.
  • Support bathroom needs: sanitize and refresh sinks and toilets, empty trash, and restock toiletries during the event.
  • Gather and organize dishes, glassware, serving pieces, utensils, and cookware for washing and drying.

Another option is to hire a housekeeping service to come the next morning and handle the cleaning. You can assign specific tasks or all of the cleanup chores. Any of these factors can provide valuable assistance.
